7 Exam-Day Mistakes to Avoid
Preparation counts, but exam day habits can still lose you easy marks.
- Studying new topics the night before. It only adds stress. Revise your notes and sleep.
- Reaching late. Plan the route, check the centre in advance and leave early.
- Forgetting documents. Keep your admit card, valid ID and pens ready the evening before.
- Spending too long on one question. If a question takes too long, mark it and move on. Come back if time remains.
- Guessing blindly. If the exam has negative marking, guess only when you can eliminate options. Check the official notification for the marking scheme.
- Misreading the question. Words like “not”, “except” and “incorrect” change the answer. Read them twice.
- Panicking at a hard section. Everyone finds some parts hard. Take a breath and move to the questions you can solve.
Practise this before the day. Mock tests teach you pacing and calm under a timer. The more full-length tests you take, the less surprising the real exam feels.
Always follow the instructions in the official notification for your exam.
